A few notes about the construction process...

Change Orders and Inspections

Our liberal change order policy allows you to change anything you wish. Charges for change orders are agreed to in advance of the change. We don't wait until the house is complete to tell you where you stand. You will know immediately how much a change will cost. This will give you the opportunity to weigh the advantages of the change against the cost.

We invite you to visit the job site whenever you want, but there are three important events which usually require your presence. First, you should be present when the house is located and "staked out" on your lot. At this time we pay close attention to saving large or unusual trees, getting the optimum setback from the street and adjoining lots, and obtaining the best views.

Later, we want you to inspect the framed-in house to make any last minute adjustments or alterations. We also want you to see the quality of materials and workmanship which make up the framework of your home.

Lastly, we take you on a walk-through of the completed home to note any problems or defects which may have missed our attention. These items are then corrected. But even if you miss something, you have our two year warranty period to let us know.

Draws

Whether you are paying cash or financing through a bank, our draw system is set up to provide you with the maximum assurance that all the work is done at each stage of construction before we are paid. Your contract will contain a list of draws spelling out the work that will be required for each draw and the amount to be drawn. When we are ready for a draw, you or a representative of the bank will inspect the work. This system assures you that no money is advanced without completion of the work required for each draw. Your draws will be structured and timed approximately as follows:

Final Payment

When the house is complete, we receive our final draw and meet with you to go over your Final Statement. This statement itemizes your allowances, with over- and under-spending, and any change orders and extras you may have had. At this time you will be given written explanations of such things as warranty claim procedures, emergency repair phone numbers, and summer- and winterization tips.
